High altitude zip wires are just like London buses: none for ages and then you see two at once.
The longest zip wire in Europe
The week after Val Thorens announce they will be opening the highest zip wire in Europe, we noticed that Stoderzinken, near Dachstein, already have the longest zip wire in Europe.
The Stoderzinken zip wire takes customers 2.5 km downhill at speeds of up to 115 kmh. Admittedly they only get up to 95 kmh in this video, but it still looks like fun.
Zip wire in Val Thorens opens in December
Meanwhile Val Thorens have announced plans to open the highest zip wire in Europe. The line will link the “Bouchet” chairlift at 3230m at the top of Orelle to the “Funitel de Thorens” at 3000m. The line will be 1300m long.
No doubt other resorts will start adding zip wires to their list of activities. Please do let us know in the comments below if you know of any other resort already offering this.
