The first day of April often brings sunshine, sometimes brings snow, but always brings a round of ‘April Fools’ gags, albeit of varying quality.

Here’s our pick of the best of this year’s ski April Fools:

Méribel: Most Effort

You’re on the slopes, it’s lunchtime, but the queue for the mountain restaurant is way too long and you forgot to bring sandwiches.

Who ya gonna call? The new ‘MÉRI’EATS’ service, of course, and have your lunch delivered to you on the mountain.

A lot of effort and creativity went into this video. Kudos to Méribel for most effort made in their ‘Poisson d’Avril’.

Courchevel: Most Obvious

Les 3 Vallées neighbours Courchevel also put together their own story, which was wholly implausible and therefore perfect for April Fools Day.

The Olympics are coming to Paris, so why wouldn’t they move some of their most famous monuments to the Alps to free up some space in the city?

Les 2 Alpes: Most Oval

We know a warming climate is a challenge in the mountains, so to discover marmottes emerging so early in spring is no surprise.

Seeing these mammals with the precious eggs of their next generation? That’s more of a surprise.

The Snow Centre: Mostly about the detail

Okay, we all like a snowball fight, so why wouldn’t you want to know more about the ‘World’s Biggest Snowball Fight’? It sounds like exactly the type of clever marketing event that The Snow Centre regularly puts on.

The catch – for anyone who checked their diary first, to see if they were available – was that it was scheduled for Wednesday 31 April…

LaTania.co.uk: Most Convincing

Our friends at latania.co.uk have a great track record for April Fools and this year was no exception.

A very detailed Facebook post explained how the beloved Bouc Blanc restaurant was being sold to the owners of the Folie Douce chain, allied to various reasons why the Méribel location of the ‘clubbing at altitude’ empire would be moving there.

It was so convincing it generated 258 comments and 19 shares and prompted much soul-searching among some users:
