A new survey shows that 31% of visitors to French ski resorts are from international markets. The figure peaks at 35% for the Northern French Alps and is as low as 13% in the Pyrenees.
The research, by G2A Consulting, shows that the UK topped the international table prior to Covid, representing 41% of all foreign skiers and snowboarders.
The top five international markets in the Northern French Alps (Savoie and Haute Savoie) are:
- United Kingdom (31.8%)
- Netherlands (12.3%)
- Belgium (11.6%)
- Switzerland (6.7%)
- Sweden (3.2%)
The Southern French Alps are more popular with the Belgians and less so with the British:
- Belgium (20%)
- United Kingdom (14.4%)
- Netherlands (12%)
- Italy (10%)
- Poland (9%)
Their research also showed that the top 5 destinations for European skiers were:
- La Plagne
- Les Arcs
- Les Menuires
- Tignes
- Meribel
