Les 3 Vallées has confirmed that the Saulire cable car will open again in December 2024.

Damaged in pre-season testing

Readers may be aware that during a standard pre-season check on the 120-capacity cable car in September 2021, both cabins were damaged as they crashed into the lift stations.

The lift has been closed for the whole of the 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24 winter seasons.

Repairs will cost €9 million

In October 2021, at the inauguration of the new Eclipse downhill run for the 2023 Alpine World Championships Pascal de Thiersant, president of the Society of Three Vallées (S3V) confirmed that the total repair cost would be in the region of €9 million.

Both cabins had to be rebuilt and the top and bottom stations slightly remodelled.

Initially the plan was to “reopen Saulire in time for summer of 2023”, but the planned re-opening is now Friday 06 December 2024.
