Most ski resorts have been affected by the increase in energy costs in the last year and a half.

Some recent analysis shows that prices have increased in all countries overall, with price hikes highest in Austria and lowest in Switzerland.

Average Increase in Lift Pass Prices

Switzerland – 2.9%
France – 6.8%
Italy – 8%
Austria – 11.2%

Evidently these are average figures and further analysis by SunWeb, published by The Telegraph shows that some resorts have only raised lift ticket prices by a few percentage points since 2021.

The Telegraph reports that Verbier and Les 2 Alpes have only increased prices by 2-3%, while St Anton and Avoriaz have put up pass prices by 20-30%.

This graphic from The Telegraph shows the biggest and smallest increases:

Turkey wins the best ‘value’

While noting the caveats behind the actual number of kilometres of skiing in each resort, the clear winner of the cost-per-kilometre category is Erciyes in Turkey, where a seven-day pass for its 112km of slopes costs just £7.38.

Anyone who attended ‘The Ski Podcast Live’ at the Birmingham or London Ski Shows will know this already, as revealed by Iain’s conversation with Katie Bamber, who told audiences about the skiing available in Turkey.
