With skiing looking less likely for British skiers this winter, there were some encouraging results from the latest Ski Club of Great Britain survey, gathered during January 2021 from over 5000 respondents.
Highlights from the survey include:
- 49% of consumers still intend to go skiing ‘if possible’ this season (this figure was down by 10% from December)
- 64% of those planning to ski have yet to book their holiday
- 32% have no intention of skiing this winter
- 80% said they are likely to go next season
- 19% of those ‘not sure’ about skiing this season listed ‘being vaccinated’ as the key issue, followed by ‘low infection rates’
- 54% of those planning to ski this season are looking at March
- 36% are planning to book their trip the week before they travel (up from 27% in December)
- 69% of skiers still plan to fly, with 28% self-driving using either Eurotunnel or the ferry
- 44% plan to stay in a hotel, 22% an apartment and 18% a chalet
