The second annual E-Tourisme Survey report on French ski resorts by French agency CyberCité has revealed some interesting data:

Chamonix: Most Searched ski resort

CyberCité looked at Google data from July 2018 to April 2019 and found that Chamonix was the most searched for ski resort in France during the period.

The figures below show the monthly averages. Val Thorens was the second most searched for resort, with Alpe d’Huez shortly behind in third place.

Alpe d’Huez: Tour de France is vital

The graphic below shows Alpe d’Huez was the most searched for resort in summer 2018, driven by a spike in searches during the Tour de France

Courchevel: Bad news travels fast

The graph below shows the peak in searches for Courchevel after the coverage of the fatal fire in January 2019, as well as the peak in July 2018 for Alpe d’Huez noted above.

Chamonix: Year-round Resort

Note as well from the graphic above that searches for Chamonix are more even across summer and winter than for other resorts.

Les Menuires/Meribel: Summer on the up

These two resorts in Les 3 Vallées have seen big increases in their summer traffic. It’s perhaps no coincidence that both resorts have worked with agencies on their brand in the last year.
