La Folie Douce is diversifying beyond their highly successful ‘clubbing in the snow’ concept by opening their first hotel this December in Chamonix Mont Blanc.
The new project is a joint venture between La Folie Douce et Les Hôtels (très) Particuliers. They will take over La Palace Le Savoy, formerly occupied by Club Med.
Opening December 2018
The opening is scheduled for mid-December 2018 after several months of work. The Folie Douce hotel will offer a capacity of 620 beds, across 250 rooms in two types to meet all budgets and all clienteles:
– a ‘hostel’ room with four beds
– a ‘premium’ 4-star room

‘Hostel’ room in La Folie Douce, Chamonix
No outdoor cabaret
The new Folie Douce concept will ‘celebrate’ Chamonix’s mountain history, as well as featuring their famous cabaret après-ski performances each day from 5pm to 8pm.
Worried local residents have been assured that none of the après-ski will take place outside!
Club Med pull out of Chamonix
Club Med withdrew from the property after explaining that while Chamonix has many qualities, it was not suitable for their clientele, who want doorstep skiing.
Club Med was involved in finding the Folie Douce as a new tenant for the property, working closely with the mayor of Chamonix.
It is possible that they could launch an operation in Argentière in the future as they continue their aggressive expansion plan in the Alps.
This winter Club Med will open their own new resort at Arcs Panorama this winter.
