It seems hotels from La Folie Douce are like buses; none for ages and then two come along at once.

It was only earlier this summer that we reported La Folie Douce was diversifying into hotels with the news that they were to open their first property in Chamonix this December.

Less than two months later, Serre Chevalier has revealed they will be the second resort to feature a Folie Douce Hotel.

The 1500 bed project is scheduled to open in 2020 and will include restaurants, shops, ski school and apres-ski.

The new complex will be built on land currently hosting the equine centre and ice driving circuit. It will consist of four-star hotel and hostel with 500 beds and a ‘tourist residence’ with another 500 beds. It’s expected costs will range from €25 to €335 per night. There will be a new ski lift to link in to the Villeneuve ski area.

The hotel group Les Hôtels Particuliers, directed by Guillaume Multrier, is piloting the La Folie Douce Serre Chevalier project.

This group is also behind the 4* hotel Rock Noir in Serre Chevalier Villeneuve and the new 4* hotel Le Monêtier in Monêtier les Bains which is due to open this winter.

The new complex will include ‘La Folie Tricks Academy’, which will offer a space to practise skiing and snowboarding jumps, as well as a climbing wall, a video games room, a movie theatre and a children’s hut for the little ones.

Adults will be able to enjoy the infamous Folie Douce apres, which will be open from 17h to 21h, to minimise noise in the area.

It is expected the new hotel will generate 150 to 200 jobs within Serre Chevalier.
